About Us

Tiverton Town Council is the parish authority for the town of Tiverton. It is the fourth tier of government after parliament, the county council and district council. Its legal powers are granted to it and regulated by various government acts.

The Town Council provides a number of services including allotments and the New Hall in Barrington Street.

There are 24 Councillors representing 5 Wards. The wards are Cranmore, Castle, Lowman, Westexe South and Westexe North.

The Town Council's administration operates from the Town Hall in St Andrew Street. The Town Clerk and council staff carry out the work as directed by the meetings of the Council.

A precept is set annually by Tiverton Town Council being the 'local' tax paid by the parishioners which is collected by Mid Devon District Council. The Town Council also receives income from the management of the New Hall, allotment fees and the provision of hanging baskets.
