Tiverton is looking for it's very own Town Crier. This is a unique opportunity for a member of the local community to be appointed to this civic voluntary role.
As a Town Crier you will be a visible presence in the Town calling our residents to local events and making public pronouncements. You can also represent our town at Town Crier competitions across the country if you wish.
We require someone with a good level of literacy (many of the announcements are written in medieval text) and an ability to perform to a crowd. This role is not for the passive or softly spoken!
The Tiverton Repair Cafe opened it's doors for the first time on Saturday 10th January. Open from 10.00am - 12noon on the second Saturday of each month this unique project from the Sustainable Villages group. The idea behind the Repair Cafe originated in Holland and it's principle is to repair and not throw things away. The Cafe is a place where people can learn about repairing things together, it is situated in the Market Centre youth drop in behind the Pannier Market. If you would like to become a volunteer please contact Dawn on 07528 840699.
Mayor Cllr Sue Griggs was on hand to officially open the cafe by pumping up a tyre rather than cutting a ribbon.
There were some fabulous Christmas Events in Tiverton this weekend. Including, Santa’s Fun Run, the North Devon pipes and drums and present wrapping in CreaTIV. Santa’s reindeer paid a visit organised by Tiverton Portas Company and helped bring extra footfall to town. Don’t forget the Tiverton Hunt which meets at the Pannier Market on Boxing Day at 11.00am.
